HOW TO HANG WALLPAPER

Read this guide carefully before beginning the installation to fully understand the entire process. If you are unsure about any step, please do not hesitate to contact our customer service team who will be happy to assist you. For your installation, we recommend using a clear, non-staining adhesive such as: Roman and Shur-Stik glues

IMPORTANT

Allow the wallpaper to acclimate in the room where it will be applied for at least 24 hours before application. To do this, remove the wallpaper from the packaging and unroll it slightly.

EMULSION PAINT

If you have recently painted your walls, ensure they have dried for at least four weeks before wallpapering. For specific details, please consult your paint manufacturer's instructions. Follow the general preparation guidelines.

POROUS SURFACE (PLASTER, CEMENT PLASTER)

Ensure the old plaster is stable and free of mold, and ensure the new plaster is thoroughly dry. Concrete surfaces should be smoothed with sandpaper. Then apply a primer or diluted adhesive to the surface and allow it to absorb/dry completely: this will prevent the adhesive from being absorbed when the wallpaper is applied.

GENERAL PREPARATION

Ensure the surface is smooth, clean, and completely dry. Make sure there is no dirt, dust, grease, mold, ink stains, or remnants of previous wallpaper on the surface: these can all prevent proper adhesion. Remove the nails/screws and fill any cracks. Turn off the power supply and remove the covers from the sockets/switches. Smooth the surface by running sandpaper over the rough areas. Use a sponge to clean the walls with warm water and neutral soap and let the walls dry for at least 24 hours. Paint the wall with a light, even color to prevent dark pattern and color stains from showing through the wallpaper.

Tool preparation and surface cleaning

You will need a tape measure, a level, a pencil, a cutter with new blades, scissors, a bucket, a paint roller and tray, a smoothing brush, a joint roller, and a clean, damp sponge.

LAY OUT THE WALLPAPER

Unroll the wallpaper and separate the strips. Identify each strip and place it on the floor, starting with number 1 (Drop 1). Make sure all the wallpaper is aligned correctly by following the numbers placed on each strip, in the upper right corner. Each strip is numbered in a sequential order from left to right. Place the strips close together to check the pattern matching. If you notice any inconsistencies in the printed image, do not install the product. Our customer service team can help you if you have any problems. We are unable to reimburse the cost of installation carried out by third parties.

Wall gluing

Illusion wallpaper is non-woven, which means you apply the glue directly to the wall. "Paste-the-Wall" method: Apply a generous and even coat of special non-woven wallpaper paste directly to the wall using a roller. Paste an area slightly larger than the panel you are going to hang.

PLACE THE FIRST LINE

Installing the first panel is the most important step for the rest of the installation. Align with the Plumb Line: Unroll the first panel and position it on the wall. Carefully align its edge with the plumb line you drew. Leave Surplus: Leave approximately 2 to 3 inches of excess paper at the top (ceiling) and bottom (baseboard) for later adjustment.

Smoothing and Sealing

It is important to expel air bubbles and properly secure the seals. Smoothing: Once a panel is in place, use a smoothing brush to smooth the paper onto the wall. Work from the center outwards to remove air bubbles and excess adhesive. Joint Roller: Use a joint roller to gently press on the edges where the panels meet, ensuring good adhesion.

Cut off the excess

A sharp blade is essential for a clean and professional cut. Trimming: Once the panel is smooth, use a utility knife with a new blade and a guide (such as a metal ruler or a putty knife) to trim the excess paper at the ceiling and baseboards. Change the blade frequently to avoid tearing the paper.

Invisible Connection ("Kiss Fit")

The panels are pre-cut for a perfect and invisible fit, without overlapping. Installing the Next Panel: Apply the adhesive for the next panel. Position the edge of the new panel exactly against the edge of the previous one, without overlapping. This is called a "kiss fit." The pattern should match perfectly.

Final Cleaning

The final step for a flawless result. Cleaning: Immediately wipe away any excess glue from the ceiling, baseboards, and wallpaper surface with a clean, damp sponge. Do not use harsh chemicals. Drying: Allow the wallpaper to dry completely according to the adhesive manufacturer's instructions.

Drying and ventilation

Allow to dry at room temperature, ensuring there is good ventilation in the room. If there is a heat source such as a radiator on the wall where you have just hung the wallpaper, lower the temperature or turn it off for the first 24 hours of drying; this will reduce the risk of shrinkage.
